The Palestinian columnist Jawad al Bashiti argues in the Palestinian daily Al Ayyam that it is not Mahmoud Abbas who needs to apologize to the Palestinians for calling the lastest suicide bombing "despicable," but rather the Islamic Jihad who in ordering it, hurt the Palestinian people's best interests. Bashiti points out what he calls "ideological terrorism" that deploys words like "martyrs' blood" and "jihad" to silence any critical examination of forms of resistance.
